Field Bindweed is a perennial that spreads by rhizomes and seeds.  The plant develops an extensive root system that can grow to a depth of 30 feet.  Seeds can remain viable for up to 50 years.  It can grow in nearly any environment and can significantly reduce production of many crops.  Field Bindweed was responsible for establishing the Kansas Noxious Weed Law in 1937.
