MILLFEST

 Each spring, the museum hosts Millfest - a family event celebrating the history of the mill and the pioneer heritage of the region. Millfest is held the first weekend in May and features guided tours of the mill in operation. Professional millers run the mill (without grain), and tours are available for visitors age 13 and older. Other activities include a traditional arts fair - including a quilt show, live musical entertainment, and great food.

Swedish Genealogy Workshops

The museum hosts regular online workshops on Swedish Genealogy to help interested individuals to explore their historical family roots.

Artists' Open House

Start off the Christmas season with a visit to the Old Mill Museum for the 'Christmas Artists Open House' where a number of local artists will be showcased. More details will be available here or at www.oldmillmuseum.org. Admission is free.

OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS

 
 
December 10, 2022   5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

John Presley tells a Shepherds story of ChristmasCelebrate the holidays with simple pleasures. The museum is filled with the sights and sounds of an old-fashioned prairie Christmas. The laughter of children and the sound of Santa’s bells ring out across the grounds. Concerts of beautiful seasonal music accompany many other activities.

Children can enjoy old-fashioned crafts, decorate sugar cookies, and take a moment to write that letter to Santa! Santa himself strolls the grounds, listening to the wishes of kids of all ages. A shepherd tells the age-old Christmas story. The popular Smoky Valley Drama Team performs seasonal drama. Tour guides will be on hand for guided tours in the flour mill. Between activities, everyone can enjoy delicious holiday refreshments and shop for those special gifts at the museum's gift shop.
