Plan now to celebrate the holidays with simple pleasures at the Old Mill Museum's annual "Old-Fashioned Christmas" event, Saturdays, December 6th and 13th in Lindsborg. From 1pm to 5pm
on the 6th, and 5:00 to 8:30 pm on the 13th the museum will be filled with the sights and sounds of an old-fashioned prairie Christmas.
The laughter of children and the sound of Santa’s bells ring out across the grounds. Concerts of beautiful seasonal music will be heard both weeks. The music schedule is filled with selections sure to bring out the holiday spirit in us all. Performers include family entertainer Thad Beach on Dec. 6th and the SVHS Madrigals, The Hieberts with Dulcimers, Etc, Silvertones Flute Choir, Prairie Wind Harps, Mennonite Friends Choir and McPherson’s Men in Harmony on Dec. 13th.
Families are invited to enjoy the music and other activities sure to bring back the flavor of Christmas past. Children can make old-fashioned crafts and decorate sugar cookies to take home. Santa strolls the grounds, listening to wishes and handing out treats for kids of all ages. Free photos with Santa are courtesy DD Studio of Lindsborg. A shepherd, in traditional dress, tells the age-old Christmas story on Dec. 13th.
On Dec. 6th don’t miss the special presentation The Captain’s Lady’s Victorian Christmas by Marti McCartney at 2 pm. On Dec. 13th the popular Smoky Valley Drama Team performs the seasonal drama Christmas at the Depot throughout the evening.
Tour guides will be on hand throughout the event for guided tours in the flour mill. Between activities, everyone can enjoy delicious refreshments and shop for those special gifts at the museum's gift shop.
